Postgraduate Master’s study programme – 2nd cycle

The aim of the postgraduate Master’s study programme in Engineering & the Automotive Industry is to educate highly educated professionals to work in research abnd development in the field of development engineering, development of products and technologies, marketing, as well as automotive energy. Graduates will be able to work on complex and strategic work in the fields of development, technology and production methods of product development, processes and innovations as well as concurrent engineering.

Enrolment requirements

The Master’s Study Programme Engineering and Automotive Industry can be entered by someone

  • who has completed a first cycle study programme or equivalent previous education in the relevant professional fields according to KLASIUS P-16: 0713 Electrical Engineering and Energy, 0714 Electronics and Automation, 0715 Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking and 0716 Motor Vehicles, Ships and Aircraft,
  • who has completed a first cycle study programme or equivalent previous education in other professional fields according to KLASIUS P-16: 07 Engineering, Production Technologies and Construction if prior to enrolment he has completed study obligations in the scope of 14 ECTS credits in the first cycle courses: Technology, Technical Documentation and Machine Elements,
  • who has completed a first cycle study programme or equivalent previous education in professional fields, other than those defined in the first two indents, if prior to enrolment he has completed study obligations indispensable for continuing studies in the range from 10 to 60 ECTS, as determined by the Commission for Studies and Student Affairs FINI Novo mesto.

In case of limited admission to Year 1, candidates will be selected according to their achievements in undergraduate studies:

  • grade point average: 80%,
  • diploma thesis grade 20%.

Enrolment to a higher year of the Master’s study programme Engineering and Automotive Industry is possible if

  • the candidate for enrolment meets the conditions for enrolment to Year 1 of the second cycle Master’s study programme Engineering and Automotive Industry (MA),
  • the candidate for enrolment is transferring from a study programme, which upon completion of studies ensures the acquisition of comparable competences or learning outcomes,
  • the candidate for enrolment in the transition is recognized at least half of the ECTS obligations from the first study programme, which relate to the compulsory courses of the second cycle Master’s study programme Engineering and Automotive Industry (MA),
  • the candidate for enrolment in the recognition process at the time of transition will be recognized at least as many ECTS credits as to meet the conditions for enrolment to a higher year of the second cycle Master’s study programme Engineering and Automotive Industry (MA):
    • for enrolment to Year 2: 42 ECTS.

According to the transfer criteria among study programmes the candidate for enrolment is required to fulfil the missing obligations if he wants to graduate in the new study programme.

Conditions for enrolment are also met by a candidate who has completed a comparable study programme abroad and is granted the right to continue education in the second cycle study programme in accordance with the applicable legislation on the evaluation and recognition of education.

Terms of Progression into Year 2

A student advances to year 2 if he/she has acquired the knowledge prescribed by the programme and completed the obligations of year 1(lectures, laboratory work, project assignments) and has collected at least 42 credit points according to ECTS.

A student can re-enrol in year 1 if he/she fulfils more than 1/3 of obligations (20 credit points) of the current study year and if he has not yet used the possibility of re-enrolment.

Study is completed with preparation for and oral defence of a Master’s thesis.
