I am pleased to inform you that yesterday, 17 August 2026, the University of Novo mesto, Faculty of Industrial Engineering (UNM FINI), was entered in the Court Register. This marks an important and long-awaited milestone: the Faculty of Industrial Engineering has become a public faculty within the public University of Novo mesto.
The Faculty of Industrial Engineering Novo mesto was established in 2009 at the initiative of the business sector, with the aim of developing higher education and research in the field of industrial engineering. Since its establishment, the Faculty has been committed to the development of higher education in the region and to the establishment of a public university in Novo mesto. In recent years, it has played an important role in the process of establishing the University and has become one of the founding members of the new public university. The University of Novo mesto was officially entered in the Court Register on 1 July 2026, and the registration of UNM FINI marks the completion of another key step in the establishment of the new public university.
For students, the transition does not entail any interruption or change to the course of their studies. Students have been automatically transferred to UNM FINI, where they will continue and complete their studies within their respective study programmes.
As of 1 July 2026, upon the establishment of the University of Novo mesto, all employees were transferred to the new public university. Following the registration of the Faculty in the Court Register, the necessary administrative procedures for the transfer of employees from the University to UNM FINI will be completed in the coming weeks.
As we bring the activities of the former Faculty of Industrial Engineering Novo mesto to a close, I would particularly like to emphasise that all the Faculty’s outstanding obligations towards contractual collaborators have been settled. This also ensures the necessary conditions for an orderly transition to the new public faculty in this area. Contractual collaborators will be informed in due time about further contractual cooperation within UNM FINI.
In the coming weeks, we will undertake a number of organisational and administrative activities related to the transfer of activities and the establishment of the Faculty’s full operational capacity. Our aim is to ensure that the transition is carried out as smoothly as possible, so that UNM FINI is fully prepared for independent operation within the University of Novo mesto as of 1 September 2026 and that we can successfully commence the new academic year on 1 October 2026.
I would also like to emphasise that all valid legal acts of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering Novo mesto, with the exception of its Statutes, remain in force. The existing governing bodies of the Faculty will likewise continue to operate, with the exception of the Management Board, whose term of office ended upon the entry into force of the new Statutes of the University of Novo mesto. At the earliest opportunity, the Faculty Senate will adopt a new Rules of Procedure for Bachelor’s Theses, new Rules of Procedure for Master’s Theses, and new Guidelines for the Preparation of Professional and Scientific Papers. These documents will be aligned with the institutional changes that have taken place and with the new legal framework governing the Faculty.
The registration of UNM FINI in the Court Register represents an important milestone in the development of our Faculty. After seventeen years of operating as an independent private higher education institution, we are entering a new chapter as a public faculty of the University of Novo mesto.
On this occasion, I would like to sincerely thank you for your work, cooperation, support, and patience throughout this period of change, and above all for your contribution to the development of the Faculty over all these years.
I am confident that, within the new institutional framework, we will successfully continue along the path we have set and work together to further develop both the Faculty and the University of Novo mesto.
